The Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department has invited Mrs Dhan Maya Tamang, mother of Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, to be the Special Guest for the upcoming Aama Samman Diwas celebration. The event will take place on August 10 at the Rangpo Playground and is expected to be one of the major social welfare gatherings of the year.
The programme is part of the Sikkim government’s continuous effort to honour and empower mothers across the state. This year, around 32,000 women will receive financial assistance under the Sikkim Aama Shashaktikaran Yojana (SASY). Along with this, other benefits from different government schemes will also be distributed to the beneficiaries during the programme.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang will personally hand over the assistance and will also take part in recognising the hard work of Anganwadi workers. The event will include a special segment where the best five Anganwadi workers from each district will be felicitated for their outstanding service and dedication towards childcare and nutrition.
