Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Monday morning visited the construction site of the upcoming Sikkim State Library near the MLA Hostel in Gangtok. The Chief Minister reviewed the ongoing work and directed officials to speed up the process so that the project can be completed on time.
The new facility is being designed as a comprehensive center that will not only function as a modern state library but also as a hub for research, culture, and learning. According to officials, the project will include an Art Gallery, a Digital Library, a Physical Library, an Atma Nirbhar Research Centre, and an Institute of Transforming Sikkim.
Speaking during the inspection, Chief Minister Tamang said the project, once completed, would become a valuable resource for the people of Sikkim. “This library will serve as a major asset for our community, researchers, and students alike. It will also play an important role in promoting intellectual and cultural growth in our state,” he said.
The Chief Minister also instructed the Buildings and Housing Department to ensure that quality standards are maintained while expediting the construction. He stressed that the project should not face unnecessary delays, as it is expected to benefit a wide section of society, especially the youth and academic community.
