CM Prem Singh Tamang laid down the foundation stone for Cho- Lung-Trul-Sum Cultural Complex

CM Prem Singh Tamang laid down the foundation stone for Cho- Lung-Trul-Sum Cultural Complex with the statue of Maitreya Buddha of which height would be 65 to 85 feet at Thangu Lachen under Mangan district near Indo- China border. Lachen falls under a vibrant village.

It was done in the second day of the Janta Bhetghat Karyakram unfolded at the Dzomsa hall in Lachen. Sikkim's Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, took this opportunity to engage with the local community, attentively listening to their concerns and grievances.

In a virtual ceremony, Chief Minister Tamang inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Cho-lung-Trul sum cultural complex in Thangu, Lachen, located within the Mangan district. This event witnessed the presence of Minister of Culture, Bishnu Sharma Khatiwara, and MLA of Lachen Mangan cum Minister of Road and Bridges, Samdup Lepcha, Minister of RMDD, Sonam Lama, Minister of Agriculture L.N. Nepal, Minister of Forest, Kamra Loday, Minister of PHE, Bhim Hang Subba, Minister or Power, M.N. Sherpa along with the departmental secretaries and other dignitaries.

As part of his official visit, Chief Minister Tamang is dedicating four days to the North District of Sikkim during this Janta Bhetghat Karyakram, marking the final leg of his district visits across the region.

The foundation laying ceremony for the Maitreya Buddha, known as Cho-Lung-Trul-Sum, set to stand between 65 to 85 feet in Thangu, Mangan District, North Sikkim, comes with a tentative cost estimate of 84.65 crore rupees. This project holds the objective of fostering the development and preservation of the region's culture and tradition, thereby boosting the tourism sector associated with Buddhism in North Sikkim.
