Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on May 30 said that his government is fully committed to giving every family a safe and secure home. Speaking at his official residence Mintokgang in Gangtok, the Chief Minister handed over housing allotment orders to several families under the Sikkim Urban Garib Awas Yojana and Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana.
“This morning, at my official residence Mintokgang, I had the privilege of handing over the housing allotment orders under the Sikkim Urban Garib Awas Yojana and Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana to our deserving citizens from various constituencies across the State,” the Chief Minister said during the event.
He said it was a happy and emotional moment to see the joy on the faces of people who had been waiting for years for a proper roof over their heads. “It fills me with immense joy to witness the smiles and relief on the faces of those who have long awaited a secure roof over their heads. Our government remains deeply committed to ensuring that every family has access to the basic necessities of life. We strive to ease their burdens and help them live with dignity, comfort, and hope for a better tomorrow,” he added.
The families who received the allotment orders are from different parts of Sikkim, including areas like Rangpo, Rangang, Kamling Suldung, Khamdong, Martam and Daramdin. Most of these people had been living in poor conditions and had been waiting for government support for a long time.
