Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Sunday congratulated senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Shri Sridhar Rao on his promotion and appointment as the new Director General of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Sikkim.
Chief Minister Tamang said, “Earlier today, I met Shri Sridhar Rao, IPS, and congratulated him on his promotion and appointment as the Director General of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Sikkim.” He went on to praise the officer’s distinguished service and wished him success in his new role.
Sridhar Rao is a senior IPS officer known for his disciplined work and clean track record. He has held many important positions within the Sikkim state government and has also served on deputation to the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Over the years, he has gained respect for his honest and efficient service.
One of the most notable recognitions in his career came recently when he was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2024, which is one of the highest honors for police personnel in India. The medal reflects his years of dedication, honesty, and professionalism in various assignments.
Chief Minister Tamang highlighted the significance of Shri Rao’s new role. “A highly decorated officer, Shri Rao has served with distinction across various capacities... Most recently, he was honored with the President’s Police Medal... a testament to his exemplary dedication and integrity,” the CM said. “I extend my best wishes to him as he takes on this important responsibility and continues to serve with the same commitment and excellence,” he added.
