Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang alongside Krishna Rai and Governor Om Prakash Mathur, inaugurated the Saras Mela and Rozgar Mela during the grand Maghey Sankranti celebrations at Jorethang. The day began with a sacred prayer ceremony at the Trikaleshwar Mandir, symbolizing cultural reverence and unity.

The event, held amidst an enthusiastic gathering, highlighted the rich cultural traditions of Sikkim and its focus on socio-economic growth. The inauguration was further elevated by the presence of Hon’ble Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Cabinet Ministers and MLAs.

The Saras Mela, a showcase of local artisanship and entrepreneurial spirit, featured stalls offering handmade crafts, organic produce, and traditional delicacies. It served as a platform for local entrepreneurs to connect with wider markets, aligning with the state government’s vision of fostering self-reliance.

The Rozgar Mela emphasized employment opportunities, offering job seekers a chance to explore openings in various sectors. This initiative reflected the government’s proactive approach to addressing unemployment and empowering the youth of Sikkim.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Tamang said, “Maghey Sankranti is a time for unity and growth. Events like the Saras and Rozgar Melas bring our people together and pave the way for progress by promoting local talent and generating employment opportunities.”
