The Citizen Action Party-Sikkim (CAP-S) has called for the immediate arrest of Shamson Tamang, citing multiple FIRs filed against him for making inflammatory remarks against the Khas community. The party expressed concern over his continued freedom and emphasized the rising public outrage.
A delegation from CAP-S, including Vice Presidents Prashant Babu Chettri and Deependra Rai, ASCWC President Karma Tsh Bhutia, Youth Council Vice President Tashi Bhutia, Gangtok District Secretary Dhiren Rai, and OS member Lura Bhujel, visited the Office of the Director General of Police (DGP) in Sikkim.
In the absence of the DGP, the team met Inspector General of Police (CB-CID) Manoj Tiwari (IPS) to discuss the matter. The delegation inquired about the progress of the investigation and stressed the need for swift action. They submitted a formal memorandum urging immediate arrest to uphold justice and maintain communal harmony.
CAP-S reiterated its commitment to protecting the dignity of all communities and urged law enforcement to take decisive steps to prevent further tensions. Hemraj Adhikari, General Secretary of the Press & Publicity Council for CAP-S, stated that prompt action would help restore public trust in the justice system.
