Miss Choden Ongmu Tamang, a young student from Paljor Namgyal Girls School, has made her school and the people of 23-Shyari Constituency proud by securing the top position in the Class 10 board examinations. Her hard work and dedication have earned her the much-awaited recognition under the Chief Minister’s Mentorship Winter Coaching Programme.

As promised by the Honourable MLA of 23-Shyari Constituency and Advisor to the Forest and Environment Department, Shri Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, Choden received a cash reward of Rs 30,000. This award was announced earlier as an encouragement for students of Class 10 and 12 from his constituency who perform exceptionally well in their board exams.

However, what makes Choden’s achievement even more special is her passion beyond academics. In a heartwarming move, and under the guidance of the Honourable MLA, Choden has adopted a Himalayan Crestless Porcupine named “Moonbeam” from the Himalayan Zoological Park. This step was taken as part of the ongoing ‘My Child From Wild’ initiative, which promotes wildlife awareness and encourages public participation in conservation efforts. Choden contributed Rs 10,000 for the adoption, joining the Himalayan Zoological Park Adoption Family.

Known for her love for animals, Choden is said to be deeply interested in understanding various conservation efforts and the protection of wildlife in the region. With a curious mind and a creative soul, she enjoys spending her time painting and creating art. She has now joined the commerce stream for her higher secondary studies and aims to continue excelling in her new academic journey.
