Body of Dinesh Das found in Baigune river days after jump from bridge over Legship river
The incident, which occurred on the morning of Friday, July 25, stunned the people of Gyalshing.

The body of 32-year-old Dinesh Das, who jumped into the river from bridge over Legship river in Gyalshing district with his infant daughter was recovered this afternoon; two days after the incident.
According to official sources, the body was located around 3 PM on Sunday, July 27 in the Baigune River. The recovery was made possible through the combined efforts of the Legship police, New Bazaar police, Legship Human Service Committee and concerned local residents from the Legship-Ganglay region.
The deceased was identified at the site by his wife, Kaushila Sharma who confirmed his identity. Following protocol, a post-mortem will be conducted before the body is handed over to the family for final rites.
However, the infant daughter whom Das carried in his arms while jumping off the bridge remains missing as of now. Search operations are still underway to locate the child. Police and volunteers are continuing to scan the downstream sections of the river.

Das is said to have taken the extreme step from the Singshore Bridge, one of Sikkim's tallest and most visited suspension bridges, located between Dentam and Uttarey. Soon after the incident, search and rescue operations were initiated by police teams from Geyzing and Legship with help from local organisations and volunteers.
