Darjeeling MP Raju Bista on September 5 said that Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will be organising a massive nationwide event on September 21 to mark the birthday celebrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As part of this initiative, BJYM will conduct marathons in 75 different cities across the country, with participation expected from more than five lakh young people.
According to Bista, who is also the national spokesperson of the BJP, the marathon will serve as both a celebration of the Prime Minister’s vision for youth empowerment and as a strong message promoting two important campaigns — Fit India Movement and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign).
“The marathons are not only a tribute to the visionary and youth-centric leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but they will also inspire millions across the country to embrace a healthier and more active lifestyle,” Bista said in his press statement.
The preparations for the marathon were discussed in a meeting held on September 5 under the leadership of BJYM National President Tejasvi Surya. The meeting reviewed the logistics, participation drive, and safety measures to ensure that the marathons are held smoothly in all cities on the same day.
BJYM has been reaching out to local youth groups, sports associations, fitness clubs, and colleges to encourage maximum participation. Leaders have said that the event is not just about running but about creating awareness among young people about the importance of staying away from drugs and maintaining a healthy body and mind.
Bista appealed to young men and women, sportspersons, marathon runners, and fitness enthusiasts to join the run and make the initiative a grand success. “This is the time for all of us to come together and spread the message of fitness and a drug-free India. Every step that we run will be a step towards building a stronger and healthier nation,” he said.
The marathon is expected to attract students, athletes, gym-goers, and ordinary citizens who believe in promoting a positive lifestyle. Local BJYM units in all 75 cities are making arrangements for registration, route planning, medical support, and coordination with district administrations to ensure smooth execution.
September 17 marks the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJYM has chosen September 21 as the day to celebrate the occasion through marathons, allowing young people across the country to take part in a meaningful tribute.
“This event reflects the way our youth connect with the vision of Prime Minister Modi. The idea of Fit India and Nasha Mukt Bharat has already struck a chord with the younger generation, and we want to give them a platform to express this through a positive and energetic activity like a marathon,” Bista said.
