Darjeeling MP Raju Bista on Saturday visited the Chunabhatti Football Ground to take stock of preparations for a major public meeting being organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Sunday. The meeting is being held to raise strong concerns about the rising incidents of crimes against women in West Bengal.

Speaking after his visit, Bista said that the law and order situation under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government has deteriorated, especially when it comes to the safety of women. “This meeting is not just a political gathering. It is a platform to raise our voice against the growing violence faced by women in West Bengal. We want the victims to be heard, and we want those in power to be held accountable,” he said.

The BJP MP said that there has been a worrying increase in cases of harassment, assault, and crimes targeting women in the state. He blamed the TMC government for failing to maintain safety and accused it of ignoring the suffering of ordinary people.

He further said that the upcoming BJYM event will see participation from senior BJP leaders from across the state, along with concerned citizens, women’s rights activists, and community leaders. The focus will be on sharing real-life experiences of victims and demanding proper justice and safety measures from the government.

“We will not sit silent while our daughters and sisters live in fear. This meeting is our way of saying enough is enough. The people of Bengal deserve safety, not silence,” Bista added.
