A team from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by party leader Sangay Gyatso Bhutia, visited STNM Hospital on Thursday to look into rising concerns about irregularities and confusion in the job regularization process for hospital staff. The visit came after complaints were raised by several employees who were uncertain about their status and the process involved in getting their jobs regularized.

During their visit, the BJP team held a series of discussions with both affected staff and hospital officials. According to sources, the main concern was related to the belief that recommendations from higher-ups or political references were necessary for the regularization of jobs. This belief had reportedly caused delays and anxiety among employees waiting for confirmation.

However, after going through the matter carefully, the BJP team clarified that the confusion was the result of misinformation. The delegation referred to an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel (DoP) about a year ago. As per that notification, and in line with the existing Sikkim Services Rules, no external recommendation is required for any employee to be regularized under government employment.

The BJP delegation stressed that regularization should strictly follow the rules and that there should be no need for political or administrative pressure. “The process is rule-based. No one should have to run after recommendations or face uncertainty due to lack of clarity,” said one member of the visiting team.

The team also underlined the importance of clear communication from the government departments involved. They pointed out that a lack of proper information often leads to confusion and even exploitation in some cases. In this instance too, it was a simple misunderstanding that created unnecessary worry among many staff members.
