A delegation from the BJP Sikkim unit, led by State Executive Smt. Pooja Sharma, met Shri Harsh Malhotra, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, in New Delhi to press for the urgent repair and restoration of National Highway 10 (NH-10).

The delegation included Shri Bikash Prasad, General Secretary of Bypari Morcha, Shri Surendra Agrawal, General Secretary of Bypari Morcha, and Shri Tika Ram Adhikari, Mandal President of West Pendam. During the meeting, the team submitted a formal representation highlighting the poor condition of NH-10, which connects Siliguri to Sikkim and is widely regarded as the state’s economic lifeline.

The delegation stressed that the highway’s deteriorating condition has been severely affecting both daily commuters and traders, creating hardships for locals and hampering the flow of essential goods. They pointed out that since NH-10 is the only road link connecting Sikkim with the rest of the country, any disruption directly impacts tourism, business, and the overall economy of the state.

Responding positively, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra assured the visiting team that the matter would be addressed on priority and that the Centre would take the necessary steps to ensure early restoration of the route. His assurance has brought relief to many who depend on NH-10 for travel, trade, and daily supplies.

The BJP Sikkim unit, under the leadership of State President Shri D.R. Thapa, reaffirmed its commitment to taking up people’s issues with the government. The delegates also conveyed their gratitude to the Union Minister for his assurance, expressing hope that the intervention would bring swift relief to Sikkim’s residents and business community.
