The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Party has made a key change in its leadership by appointing Birendra Tamang as the new Spokesperson of the party. This decision was approved by the Party President and was officially announced by the SKM Headquarters based at Ghaley Compound, Tibet Road, Gangtok.

The appointment comes as part of an internal reshuffle. Tamang will take over the role from C.P. Sharma, who has now been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Institute of Transforming Sikkim. The change was made under Article IV, Clause (1), Sub-clause (d) of the SKM Party Constitution, as per the official memo issued by the party.

The appointment order was signed by Pawan Gurung, General Secretary (HQ Administration) of SKM. The order clearly states that this change modifies an earlier order dated September 19, 2024, and will take effect immediately.

The SKM party has thanked C.P. Sharma for his service as the party spokesperson and congratulated him on his new role. As Vice Chairman of the Institute of Transforming Sikkim, he is expected to play an important part in the state’s development initiatives and policy reforms.

Birendra Tamang, the newly appointed Spokesperson, is expected to be the party’s voice on all major political and public issues. He will be responsible for communicating the party’s stand to the public, media, and other political stakeholders. His appointment is being seen as an effort to strengthen the party’s outreach and communication.

SKM supporters welcomed the decision and expressed confidence that Shri Tamang would bring clarity, discipline, and commitment to the role. A senior party worker said, “We believe this change will help the party grow stronger and connect better with the people.”
