The All Sikkim Government Employees Association (ASGEA) for Group C and D staff held an important meeting on June 1 at the ASGEA Guest House in Hospital Dara, Gangtok. The meeting was led by Shri Norden Bhutia, the President of ASGEA’s Adhoc Executive Committee. All 15 members of this committee were present to discuss the way forward for the association.
During the meeting, several important decisions were made to strengthen the association and prepare for upcoming elections. First, the names of the Adhoc Executive Committee members and details about its formation were officially sent to the Law Department of the Government of Sikkim, as had been decided in the last meeting.
The committee also planned to invite the former president and previous Executive Committee members to the next meeting, which will take place on June 8, 2025. This step is meant to include everyone involved and gather their views for a smooth transition.
One of the key points agreed upon was the appointment of an Election Commission in the upcoming meeting. This body will be responsible for conducting free and fair elections for the Central Executive Committee of ASGEA, ensuring transparency and fairness in the process.
To encourage more people to join, the membership form of the association may be updated if needed. Additionally, a membership drive will be launched soon to reach out to more government employees and increase participation.
The responsibility to conduct the election will officially be handed over to the Election Commission during the next meeting. This is expected to make the election process more organized and trustworthy.
Besides the ASGEA members, presidents and general secretaries of all sister associations have been invited to the June 8 meeting. Their presence is expected to foster cooperation and strengthen ties among government employee groups across Sikkim.
