Agriculture Officers unite for welfare and growth at SSAOWA Annual Meet in Gangtok

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sikkim State Agriculture Officers Welfare Association (SSAOWA) was held today at SAMETI Hall in Tadong, bringing together agriculture officers from across the state under one roof. The gathering was marked by a spirit of unity, shared purpose, and a common goal of strengthening the welfare and professional growth of officers in the agriculture and horticulture sectors.

The meeting began with a warm welcome by Tashi Choki Bhutia, Joint Secretary of SSAOWA from Gangtok District. She extended her greetings to all members, especially the newly joined Agriculture Development Officers (ADOs) and Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs), who were formally welcomed into the Association by SSAOWA President Shri Tshering Chophel Bhutia.

The meeting was attended by several senior officers including Principal Directors Tshering Thendup Bhutia and Rajen Thapa, Principal Chief Engineer Jeewan Kumar Chettri, Treasurer Dr. Pratap Subba, General Secretary Passang Tamang, Vice Presidents from various districts, and other executive members. Officers from all districts of Sikkim participated in the meeting, showing strong unity among members.

During the meeting, Dr. Pratap Subba gave a detailed financial report of the Association. He explained the income, expenses, and financial condition of SSAOWA during the past year. This helped members understand how the Association is managing its resources for the benefit of all.

Following this, Passang Tamang, the General Secretary, presented a detailed report about the previous meetings. He informed members about the discussions held earlier and the progress made on different agendas. His report also included updates on matters related to service welfare, departmental coordination, and pending issues.

An open house discussion was held where members freely shared their thoughts and suggestions. Many officers expressed their concerns regarding service conditions, promotions, and the need for regular departmental training. They also spoke about improving communication between districts and strengthening field-level support for agriculture activities.

The keynote speech was delivered by the President of SSAOWA, Tshering Chophel Bhutia. He thanked all the members for their continued support and active participation. He carefully addressed each issue raised during the meeting and assured everyone that the Association will always work for the betterment of agriculture officers. He emphasized the importance of staying united and supporting each other for both personal and professional growth.

Dr. Karma Chewang Bhutia, Vice President from Gyalshing District, delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, members, and organizers for making the AGM a success.
