The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Sikkim-Darjeeling Prant, held its three-day Prant Abhyas Varg, a state-level student training camp, at Janta Bhawan in Gangtok, drawing participation from more than sixty students from various colleges and universities across the state. The camp aimed to promote leadership, discipline, cultural understanding, and national awareness among young students.
The event featured group discussions, lectures, ideological workshops, and cultural activities. According to the organisers, the camp was not only about learning, but also about developing a strong connection to one's culture, values, and duties toward society. The sessions focused on shaping responsible and socially aware individuals who are prepared to contribute positively to the nation.
One of the highlights of the camp was the presence of Ramesh Kandel, National Organizing Secretary of Pragyaik Vidyarthi Parishad, Nepal. He delivered a powerful speech that touched upon the important role students play in building a strong nation. He said that education should not only focus on academics but also on character and moral development. He introduced the idea of “bhakti nirman”, which means developing a deep emotional bond with the society, culture, and one's duties. Kandel also stressed the need to protect the environment and live in balance with nature. His words encouraged students to look beyond personal success and think about the larger welfare of the nation.
Several other speakers contributed to the camp with motivational and educational messages. Apaksu Sekher Sail, Regional Organizing Secretary of ABVP East Zone, talked about the power of student unity and how students can become a strong pillar for the nation if they stay disciplined and committed. Chain Singh Rawat, State Organizing Secretary of ABVP Sikkim-Darjeeling, urged students to stay grounded and take the initiative in solving local and social problems.
