20th Sikkim State Boxing Championship kicks off with grand ceremony

The 20th Elite and Youth Men's and Women's Sikkim State Boxing Championship commenced today with a vibrant opening ceremony at Namchi, highlighting the state’s growing focus on sports and youth development. The event, organized by the Namchi District Boxing Association (NDBA) in collaboration with the Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association (SABA), is a significant milestone for the local boxing community.

The ceremony was graced by the Hon'ble Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth Affairs, Raju Basnet Namchaybong, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished attendees included the Hon'ble MLA of 11-Namchi Singithang and Chief Patron, Satish Chandra Rai, along with Patron Shree Tashi Dorjee Tamang, Madam Roma Tamang (Vice President and Nari Shakti Incharge), Shree Sanjay Dilpali (SKM Spokesperson), and several other esteemed leaders and convenors.

The championship, held under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and former MLA Krishna Kumari Rai, aims to provide a platform for young boxing enthusiasts to showcase their talent. Addressing the audience, Raju Basnet emphasized the importance of sports in youth empowerment and lauded the organizers for their efforts in nurturing local talent.

“This championship not only fosters athleticism but also inspires our youth to pursue their dreams with discipline and determination,” said Basnet.
